12 Wrestlers Who Hung On Way Too Long

8. Kurt Angle

In terms of sheer match quality, you could argue that Kurt Angle is the greatest wrestler of this generation. While his TNA tenure may have been seen a mere fraction as his WWE run, the man was still giving it his all, and delivering standout performances well into his 40s. As the injuries began to pile up, most wrestlers would have called it a career. But Angle kept going, and going, and he€™s still, somehow, going. Angle€™s history of injuries are well documented. As he often noted, he wrestled in the Olympics with €œa broken freaking neck.€ That was in 1996. In 2015, it€™s amazing that the man can even walk. Few wrestlers have given it their all the way he has. When He Should Have Hung Up The Tights: From a pure health standpoint, five years ago sounds pretty good for Angle to have stopped. You can imagine later in his life he might have some serious mobility issues. He did his best to try to take TNA to the next level, but creative failed him in every conceivable way. You have to wonder if the trade-off will have been worth it.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
