Following his rather unfulfilling tag-team run with Bray Wyatt over the spring and summer months, Matt Hardy announced via social media that he'd be taking ample time off to heal his body. The veteran's pelvis had fused with his back (which sounds hella' painful), and he didn't know if he'd ever be able to wrestle again. Retirement was teased, then retracted.

Yes, Matt has said during several interviews, including on JR's podcast, that he's most definitely never saying never on a WWE return. That's fine, but he's currently inactive as things stand and, at 44, closer to being retired than he's ever been.

He's only first up here because there's a chance he might return. A slim chance.
