12 WWE Royal Rumble Statistics You Need To Know
8. Most Time Spent In Rumble
Longevity in the Royal Rumble is part luck of the draw, part
flat-out luck. If you draw a low number and manage to hang around until the end
of the match, then you’re going to log a good, lengthy time.
In 32 men’s Royal Rumbles, six men have logged more than an hour in the match, with three of them winning: Ric Flair (60:02 in 1992), Chris Benoit (61:31 in 2004) and Rey Mysterio (62:12 in 2006) for the record. Bob Backlund (61:10 in 1993), Triple H (60:16 in 2006) and Chris Jericho (60:13 in 2017) have lasted an hour, but ultimately were knocked out.
Daniel Bryan earned Iron Man status in last year’s Greatest Royal Rumble, lasting an astounding 76:05 and going nearly coast-to-coast from the #1 entrant to second-to-last man eliminated.
Roman Reigns missed the century mark by about 10 seconds in 2016, but his addition would have been suspect considering he was “knocked out” and spent nearly half the match in the back recuperating.
If you’re adding up the cumulative time spent in the Rumble, then Chris Jericho has run away with that title, logging nearly five hours in his 10 January Rumbles, plus another three minutes for GRR. Triple H is second with four hours to his name. Rey Mysterio has snuck up to third, thanks to his surprise appearance last year and his 20-minute showing in GRR.
