The Shield and The New Day had perhaps more pressure on them than anybody else on the card. In a company not famed for too many glorious trios, these triumvirates can comfortably be considered the two finest. Like limp-wristed political campaigns, they are better together - evidenced alone by the roars of support for Roman Reigns' superman punches and spears when he's a 'Hound Of Justice' rather than a 'Big Dog'.

Going on first, the six looked as though they needed to warm up the crowd as well as themselves in an opening stretch that felt more laboured than lively, but the action eventually came as thick as Big E and as fast as Seth Rollins in a closing set of near-falls hugely dramatic for a contest that was one of the most predictable on the card.

The Shield weren't losing their first pay-per-view clash back, not least with Roman still on duty to dethrone Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. It would be overstating things to call the contest a resounding success, but it's a testament to the quality of contests the combatants have had this year that some left disappointed with the fray. Later in the card, and this possibly would have fared better. Robbed of genuine stakes (outside of the cathartic moment E disposed of Dean Ambrose' hideous half-and-half shirt), it did fall just a tiny bit short.
