13 Biggest Matches WWE Should've Booked In The 80s (But Didn't)

9. Bret "Hitman" Hart Vs. Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat

These two were scheduled to wrestle each other at WrestleMania 2 before plans were changed. This could've been the first match to steal the show at WrestleMania instead of Steamboat vs. Savage the next year. Although, with all due respect to Bret and Steamboat, it is impossible to predict their match would've been on par with WrestleMania III given Savage's star power and the red-hot feud the two had, but it at least could have set the precedent. With Steamboat departing the WWF in mid-1988, the two had a few years in which he and Bret could've been featured in a high profile feud on WWF television and their matches were sure to be classics as both men were motivated and excited at the prospect of working with each other. The two men did square off a handful of times on the house show circuit, including a match at the Boston Garden just a few weeks before WrestleMania 2 in March of 1986 (linked below), but nothing that would constitute a worthy program between the two. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x31ihho
