13 Greatest Wrestling Trios Ever

2. nWo

The New World Order angle catapulted World Championship Wrestling to the top of the wrestling industry. An invasion story, the original trio featuring Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall were portrayed as former WWE stars infiltrating and taking over WCW. Fans ate the story up, thanks to the fact that all three performers were so readily associated with Vince McMahon's company, and the segments were so realistic, that it was not hard to believe that it may very well be legitimate. Together, the founding members of the nWo sparked a renaissance in the wrestling industry and nearly put their former employer out of business. While the group would become watered down, with members such as Buff Bagwell, Scott Norton, Masahiro Chono and others ruining the concept, the nWo was highly influential and led to Ted Turner's company becoming the hottest and most financially successful company in the sport for a two year period. Unfortunately, the egos of all involved ultimately proved WCW's downfall, but that would not stop McMahon from going back to the well with the black and white once his competition was dead and buried. In 2002, Hogan, Hall and Nash reunited in WWE and instantly made life a living hell for the company's top stars. Steve Austin, The Rock and Kane all felt the wrath of the group. A quick babyface turn from the Hulkster following his epic WrestleMania X-8 classic with The Rock, though, doomed the group and no replacement could replicate the effectiveness of the core three.
