13 Match Star Ratings For AEW Double Or Nothing 2022

10. Jade Cargill Vs. Anna Jay - TBS Title Match

Anna Jay Jade Cargill
AEW

This wasn't great, though the post-match saw several promising developments.

It was inferior to their improbable Rampage triumph earlier this year, which was less than ideal in and of itself. The sequel existed because the first match was so great, and this lazy approach to match-making was almost punished. That Cargill and Anna Jay lifted the best spots from that match beat for beat and executed them less effectively marked this as an almost literal regression. The Jaded counter into a victory roll was far clunkier this time 'round.

Anna Jay didn't run the ropes with much conviction, where Cargill's cut-off spots lacked her usual oomph. Again, this was suboptimal, since there's still not a great deal else she can do.

Jade won following heavy interference, which represents a new arc at least - she's growing over-confident and reliant on shortcuts - and her association with Stokely Hathaway is guaranteed to be amazing. Guaranteed.

Kris Statlander deserved the pop and Athena deserves the contract. It was all a bit much, in typically convoluted AEW style, but the post-match scene drew the intended reaction.

Star Rating: ★★¼
