13 Things We Learned From DDP On The Steve Austin Show Part 2
2. Training At The Power Plant
After his run with The Freebirds came to an end he paired up with Scott Hall and Kevin Nash, both of who left for WWE not long after that. He was also the fourth string color commentator and knew of another person who was about to leapfrog him in the pecking order in that position, so with seven months left on his contract he went down to the Power Plant to learn how to wrestle. While there he was under the tutelage of renowned trainer Jody Hamilton, complimenting him on his career as one of The Assassins. He began teaming up with Hall and Nash, but after nine months in Dallas tore his rotator cuff and was let go. While training to make a comeback, it was during this time that Dusty came down to the Power Plant and got a look at him working. Dream asked him to get in the ring with an aspiring talent that he'd come to check out and the two did a twenty minute match together, and after that Dusty hung out all day. The next day Page was meeting with the WCW office to go over ideas for a return, and in the middle of the meeting Dusty tells him "I know you've always seen yourself as a top guy in this business. But I've got to be honest with you. I've never seen it...until yesterday. If you just keep doing what you're doing, you might get to the midcard."
