13 Things We Learned From Luke Harper On Talk Is Jericho

6. Joining The Wyatt Family

Chris asks how much time transpired between Harper joining WWE and being paired with Bray Wyatt. He says that even before he signed his contract Cesaro had been telling him to hook up with Bray Wyatt because he knew the role would be perfect for him. They spoke on the phone and Luke says when he hung up he thought "What in the hell is this guy talking about?" Wyatt was with Eli Cottonwood at the time - who Harper calls a great guy that knew he wasn't meant to be a wrestler and wouldn't be around long - but that spot soon opened up. They were doing promo classes every Wednesday when Dusty Rhodes decided to place them together for some promos. The next step was shooting vignettes for NXT TV, and they brought Harper, Erick Rowan and some other extras along to film the Wyatt clips, many of which were edited together and aired on WWE programming. He says they were shot with no budget or guidance and that they came out awesome. Bray tore his pec and Bill DeMott thought it was time to try something different with Harper and Rowan since it didn't look like The Wyatt Family was going to be a thing, so he had them wrestle in tights, which Luke said he'd never done in his life. But once Wyatt returned from is injury the three were immediately put back together.
