13 Things We Learned From Seth Rollins On Talk Is Jericho
2. The Curb Stomp/RKO Mania Finish
Chris wants to talk about the finish to match Seth had with Randy Orton at WrestleMania 31 where The Viper counters the Curb Stomp into a mid-air RKO and calls it one of his all-time favorite endings of a match.
Seth says he came up with the idea for the spot a couple weeks before the show and ran it by Cesaro who thought he could do it, but adds "Cesaro's a different animal than Randy." When he talked to Orton about it he was skeptical and unsure if Rollins could do it.
Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble were the producers for the match, and in rehearsals Seth and Joey could nail it but Seth and Randy were never able to hit it the entire day. Since they were unable to do it they had come up with an alternative.
"Randy's one of these guys who likes to play it safe sometimes, he likes to bat .1000 and I have no problem with that."
Orton said "To hell with it. I play it safe and I have plenty of fine WrestleMania matches, but if we hit this it'll be great so let's try it. Obviously the spot worked and was one of the most memorable moments of the show, and jokes that if you ask Johnny Ace he'll take credit for it being his idea.
