13 Ups & 3 Downs From NJPW Dominion 6.9 2019

Ups...

13. Welcome Back

It was great to have Don Callis back in the New Japan announce booth for Dominion.

Him, Chris Charlton, and Kevin Kelly is probably NJPW's best English language team. There's nothing wrong with Rocky Romero, and Gino Gambino and Juice Robinson both shone in their Best of the Super Juniors colour commentary stints, but this is the dream team, with their chemistry and cohesion elevating the broadcast quality throughout.

Callis is the best colour guy in pro-wrestling today. He shows personality without ever detracting from the wrestling, and, like Kelly, puts the wrestlers, stories, and action over like few others. Contrast with his counterparts in other promotions, who do nothing made make their products harder to watch, and it's easy to see why he's held in such high esteem.

Impact Wrestling commitments mean we only really see Don on NJPW's biggest shows these days. That's okay, though: it only makes his returns more rewarding.
