13 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Fyter Fest 2019

1. Shhhhhh!

Leva Bates Peter Avalon Librarian
AEW

This 'Librarian' shtick? It's not good. Not good at all.

Leva Bates and 'Pretty' Peter Avalon made their respective presences felt on the Buy In, with Bates emerging first. She shhhh'd the crowd before her cohort came out to do the same, and while Avalon got heat for dumping a tent in the paddling pool then decapitating a mannequin, the pre-match segment came off as poorly as their backstage bit at Double Or Nothing.

Was Bates criticizing comics and instructing the fans to "read books with words" supposed to draw heel heat? It didn't. This is goofy, nonsense comedy, and it isn't hitting the mark.

Here's hoping AEW find a way to make these characters work before the TV deal kicks in. At the moment, the Librarians are an affront to AEW's supposed "sport-like" goals. They don't fit at all, and while this stuff works on Being the Elite, its presence on mainline shows messes with everything the promotion are trying to accomplish.
