13 Ups And 23 Downs For WWE In 2020

7. Vega’s Impotent Stable

We could wax about the firing of Zelina Vega as its own item, but we’ll just roll that into the complete mismanagement of her stable of jokers.

In the beginning of the empty arena era, it looked like Vega and her charges, Andrade, Angel Garza and Austin Theory, were poised to be major players. They were featured prominent on every episode of Raw, wrestling long matches and being positioned as challengers for the tag titles and United States Championship.

But the trio fell short repeatedly and spent much of the year bickering with each other over and over. They continued to tread water for months, losing matches constantly and being little more than cannon fodder instead of a powerful force. They were quickly eclipsed by the Hurt Business as a top heel stable, and then disbanded.

Theory was booted out early and sent back to NXT. Andrade has been absent from TV for months. Garza resurfaced recently leaning into his “lothario” persona, albeit in a strange manner. And Vega tried her hand as a full-time competitor before being axed because of her desire to retain her revenue stream from her Twitch account.

Yet another ball dropped by WWE in 2020.
