7. Papa Shango

Papa Shango remains one of the most over-the-top characters to ever set foot in a professional wrestling ring, and that’s really saying something.

The WWF’s resident voodoo practitioner came to the ring complete with a smoking skull, black top hat, and bone necklace. He wore skeleton-like white face paint and was known for putting curses on his opponent that caused them to bleed and vomit.

Surprisingly, during his brief, roughly year and a half run, Shango was involved in storylines with the biggest names in the company at the time. He was featured in a brief feud with Hulk Hogan following WrestleMania VIII and was programmed with the Ultimate Warrior after that.

Though Papa Shango was certainly a groan-inducing character, he was still involved in so-bad-it's-good vomiting angles, so at least there’s that.
