This would be the last hurrah for Demolition, and the second (and final) tag title reign for the Hart Foundation. As with many of the great tag title matches back in the day, this was two out of three falls. Demolition were using the “Freebird Rule” at this point, with Crush sometimes defending the titles alongside Ax or Smash. In this case, it was Crush and Smash defending the straps.

With each team winning a fall, it was the deciding third fall where things got a little crazy. Ax came out and switched off with Smash, giving Demolition a fresh man to beat down the Harts. The Legion of Doom came down to put a stop to the Demos’ cheating ways, and the Harts would pick up the victory and the titles.

This marked the downward slide for Demolition and gave the Hart Foundation one good final run as tag champs before Bret would break out on his own (more on that a little later).
