14. More Like A Whistle Than A Pop - John Cena's 2008 Royal Rumble Return
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGIqAiUGdLI Having suffered a legitimate torn pectoral muscle in a match in October 2007, John Cena was forced to surrender the WWE title and undergo surgery where doctors found that the muscle was torn completely off the bone. His rehabilitation was expected to take seven months to a year: a long time for WWEs biggest star to be off television. These days, were used to Cenas almost miraculous powers of recovery: at the time, his return in the number thirty spot at 2008s Royal Rumble, less than four months after surgery, was genuinely stunning to many. Triple H seemed a shoe-in to win, with no other real contenders to the position surfacing throughout the match after the final two in 2007s event, the Undertaker and Shawn Michaels, were eliminated after around half an hour, and the total number of surprise entrants until number thirty had been a couple of WWE Legends, Snuka and Piper. Fans in attendance and at home were therefore expecting some kind of shock participant but not this, Cena having cut an interview only a week beforehand expressing sadness at the fact that his injury would keep him out of Wrestlemania. Of course, this being Cena, the massive pop he received was so high-pitched that bats could have used it to navigate. Presumably the adult male fans in attendance were so horrified that they lost their voices for a moment.
