There was this whole online argument when Kalisto debuted over what his name meant, you know. Some people said it was a variation on the Spanish 'listo', meaning ready. WWE.com said it was taken from an old Spanish name meaning the beautiful and great of everything", which doesn't sound quite right, does it? It's a name derived from an old Greek word and name meaning 'beautiful' or 'most beautiful'. Strange thing to call a guy in a mask. Anyway. I get that Sin Cara's out of action and that the Lucha Dragons are on hold... but no one really knows much about Kalisto right now. I love the pairing with Del Rio, and the scrappy underdog thing he had going on last week is classic Rey Mysterio, which is exactly the vibe Kalisto should be going for. But winning the United States title on this week's RAW? Too soon by far. Not because he's not over, or because he doesn't deserve it, or because he can't carry a singles title... but this could have run for weeks. Why was Kalisto's US title win suddenly hotshotted into week two? Granted, Del Rio had a rematch at Smackdown this week and won the title back... but does no one else think that the angle would have been better served with the heroic underdog beating the heel champion at the Rumble? Or even at Wrestlemania, if they could stretch the feud that far? Maybe that's still the plan, but it still seems like they've shot their bolt early like your daddy used to.
