10. Santino Defeats Umaga - Raw 2007
It's all about kayfabe, obviously, but the odds against Santino Marella were incredibly high in 2007. He debuted as a "fan in the crowd", chosen at random by Vince McMahon to face Intercontinental Champion Umaga for the title. Raw was coming from Italy that night, and as a man with a heavy Italian accent, the crowd got behind him right off the bat. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGju3Wl34QU Umaga was a monster, and he mowed through Santino like he should have. It was some assistance from Bobby Lashley that turned the tide and helped to give Santino the win, shocking the wrestling world. The crowd went nuts, and we had ourselves a new star. It can be argued that, based on his debut night and what his skills were, Santino should have been a bigger star in his career. That's not to say he should have been a ten-time WWE Champion or anything, but he had the tools to be more than what he was for 95% of his time with the company, and that's pretty much a jobber that provides comic relief on occasion.
