14 Things We Learned From Daniel Bryan On Talk Is Jericho
5. The Booking vs. Roman Reigns
The talks transitions to a discussion of the brief program between Daniel and Roman Reigns that culminated in their match at Fastlane. Jericho takes exception to fans accusing him of being a kiss*ss and a WWE sycophant for defending Reigns because he truly believes in the guy. Bryan thinks the decision to put them against each other was a bit of an overreaction to the backlash, being of the opinion that Roman would have worked through it and doing so forced the fans to pick a side.
"I was thrilled with just the possibility that I might be in the main event again, right? So you have to take some things with a grain of salt. I don't necessarily agree with this direction."
Both men point out that people were cheering Roman in the first few appearances after the Royal Rumble, and having them be directly opposed to each other created a difficult situation.
"I was thrilled at the potential of maybe getting another chance to be in the main event at WrestleMania. But as much as everybody wants to main event WrestleMania, if this is the plan they're going with I think they made the right decision."
Whether Bryan truly believes this or is just being a good company man, that endorsement should still help build Roman's confidence.
