14 Things We Learned From Daniel Bryan On Talk Is Jericho

2. Goal For WrestleMania 31

Jericho asks what Daniel's overall goal is for his match at WreslteMania, and he responds that his goal with anything in wrestling is for something to be creatively fulfilling. He mentions an interview his trainer and mentor Shawn Michaels did where he said he never truly considered coming out of retirement to face him because the teacher vs. student story has already been told many times, and if he were to come back it would have to be for something new and compelling. He tells a story of Shawn trying to get him in WWE back in 2008 during the program with Jericho alongside his other protege - the deceased Lance Cade - saying "I know you love being the starving artist, but maybe it's time for you to come make some money." It was interesting hearing that in the interview with HBK because Bryan feels the same way regarding the need for creative fulfillment in his angles and matches.
