14 Things We Learned From Daniel Bryan On Talk Is Jericho

1. Working With Undercard Guys

Bryan talks about how WWE has a select few guys at the top, and the company's philosophy of 50/50 booking makes it hard for talent to get elevated to the next level. One of the things he'd like to do now that he's back is change that.
"This is where I don't have your typical ambition, and it's a different kind of ambition, but to raise...to get more people over, and if we have to use me to do that...I think that's better for the company and then it's more fun. And then not only will I have more people to work with, John Cena will have more people to work with, and Roman Reigns will have more people to work with. And then guys in the back will be happier because there's this perception that if I work hard I will get opportunities."
Daniel specifically mentions Heath Slater as being a tremendous talent that is grossly underutilized, saying he'd love to be programmed with him to let him show what he can do. He acknowledges that not everyone is going to be Hulk Hogan or Steve Austin, but there's no reason more guys can't be over. His goal is to go out and there and have the best match that he can possibly have but he also wants other guys to get the chances that he's been given, stating that he's lucked into a lot of them. He mentions being chosen to win Money In The Bank rather than Wade Barrett the day of the event due to fear that Barrett's story was too similar to Alberto Del Rio's, who was winning the other one. He also points out the 18-second loss to Sheamus was meant to be the Irishman's Ultimate Warrior moment and no one would have predicted the way it kickstarted Bryan's fan support, as well as Punk's quitting opening up a huge spot that he filled.
"I'd like to be able to provide opportunities for other guys who are every bit as talented as me, and who, if given the opportunity they could get over. There's no reason why Heath Slater should not be as over as The Honky Tonk Man. He's incredible. And everybody says Cesaro and I'm a big proponent of Cesaro, but there's lots of Cesaros."
