11. The Burden Of Thunder

Thunder was clearly a heavy burden for Bischoff around this time. The Thursday night show was mandated by Ted Turner and would cost around $12-15 million to produce, which wouldn't be covered by Turner Broadcasting. In order to pay for the extra content, Bischoff increased the number of house shows they were running and bumped Nitro up to three hours. The schedule of the production crew was hard, with them on the road pretty much all the time. They were maxed-out with Nitro as it was, so Thunder, WCW Saturday Night and syndicated shows (and PPV) just about killed them.
