14 Things We Learned From The Prime Time Players On Talk Is Jericho

5. Titus's Upbringing

In response to how he felt upon learning that his friend and partner was gay, Titus says he's never cared and adds that he loves Darren and his kids call him their uncle. He says that when he was in high school he had a gay teacher who took a vested interest in him and helped him turn his life around, and he's always judged people on their character because of that interaction. O'Neil adds that his compassion for homeless people comes from a local man who always came to watch the football team practice, and one day he pulled Titus aside and told him that he had a powerful presence and he needed to use it in a positive and way. He says that he was raised at the sheriff boys' ranch, and was one of thousands of kids who were on the list to get in, but through a connection he was accepted. He calls this the pivotal moment in his life, saying he had always been told he wouldn't live past 16 or 17 years old. Titus says he went from being an F student to earning a Master's Degree from the University of Florida, and says that if he can make it from the environment he came from, anyone can.
