Hopefully by association with AJ Styles, WWE's US Title will get back to the glory days it experienced when John Cena was holding those 'Open Challenges'. Cycled out of the main event scene for a while, Cena welcomed back a returning Alberto Del Rio at Hell In A Cell 2015 by dropping the belt to him in just 8 minutes.

Fans had witnessed Del Rio vs. Cena countless times before, and yet there was a buzz in the air owing to the Mexican's shock comeback and alliance with Zeb Colter. That wouldn't work out, but the pay-per-view win over Cena made Del Rio look like one of WWE's big boys again instantly.

Maybe WWE wouldn't have booked a clean win over John Cena had they known Alberto would be gone again less than a year later. Cena wasn't to know that at the time though, and it's admirable that he wanted to give Del Rio a major win on his return to the promotion.
