14 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (Aug 22)

6. Styles Clash

Private Party FTR
AEW

Stylistically, Private Party and FTR are chalk and cheese. Young, exuberant high-fliers with a spot-heavy style against two Arn-and-Tully-worshipping no-nonsense bastards, to whom "flippydoo" is a pejorative. This informed a strong show-opening tag in which FTR were out to teach those young punks a thing or two about tag ropes and legal men, son, playing nasty, brutish heels throughout, their malice enhanced by Tully Blanchard's presence at ringside.

It was a competitive defeat for Private Party, whose superior speed and agility allowed them several avenues to offense. They were eventually slowed down by FTR, who tried to ground them down throughout, and ultimately failed in the face of two wrestlers who are already evolving into a more dangerous force under their new wingman.

Quen ate the Goodnight Express for the win. Private Party looked good here and FTR are at their best when playing total pricks, amplifying the snugness, making the opposition work for everything, and cheating without making it blatantly obvious. They're a world-class tag team operating at a world-class level once more.
