14 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (Aug 22)
7. Cleaning House
John Silver and Alex Reynolds got their big Dynamite tag team spot against Matt Cardona and Cody the other week. They killed it in defeat, earning this second spotlighted match as they teamed with Alan Angels to face the original Elite: Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks.
While not without its sloppy moments, this was a hoot of a tag match. Fun, fast-moving, and fluid, it was rife with quick exchanges and combination moves. Whether it was Angels trading with Nick Jackson to open the bout or The Dark Order smashing Omega up with a chair on the outside, these guys were out to give the show an adrenaline shot. They achieved that goal, and while the result was never in doubt, the race to the finish was never dull, concluding with Kenny hitting the One-Winged Angel.
Omega's continued 'Cleaner' teases are what matter the most here. Kenny is coming unglued. This was shown in him trying to powerbomb Angels onto a chair after the match had ended, having already been pulled away from going too far with some ground-and-pound during the match itself. 'The Best Bout Machine' is giving us little slithers of his former self every time out, ensuring the eventual explosion is going to be something special.
