14 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (Aug 22)

12. A Double Turn?

Matt Hardy Sammy Guevara
AEW

Ambushed during a picture-in-picture break was Sammy Guevara, who'd been taunting Matt Hardy with cue cards when the legend jumped him from behind, unleashed a prolonged, vicious beatdown, and launched him off the stage and into a pile of plunder, going way too far.

Was this a double-turn? It certainly felt like one, though it doesn't matter either way. The key point here is that Hardy is losing it. He was screaming like a madman as Sammy was carted out towards the end and now finds himself in tables match with 'The Spanish God' next week, finally getting his chance to mash the Inner Circle man into a mofongo.

It's understandable that Matt would be out for blood after getting his skull split a few weeks ago, though he is currently swimming in shades of grey, treading the line between sympathy and villainy. It'll be interesting to see what side he finally falls on.
