14 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (16 Oct)

3. Reach For The Sky

Frankie Kazarian Best Friends
AEW/Lee South

Best Friends vs. SCU continued Dynamite's theme of starting with hot action between two over acts for the crowd to pop their t*ts off to, and while not quite on the same level as Private Party vs. The Young Bucks, but how could it be? That match was calibrated to rip.

SoCal Uncensored were up against it following the Lucha Brothers beatdown. Kazarian was hurt and Sky was working in jeans. They were naturally sympathetic, so the Orange Cassidy-less Best Friends played heels. They were nastier than usual as they worked double-team beatdowns on SCU. At one point, Chuck Taylor took one of Sky's sneakers, tossed it away, and bit his foot. That scuzzy, dirty bastard.

Kaz sold his injured back throughout, building up to an awesome Scorpio Sky hot tag that further cemented the guy as one of AEW's most underrated wrestlers. Big pops came from a series of dives with the biggest saved for the end, when Scorp's shoe was lobbed back from him, though the alignments were fluid throughout. The heat on Sky for interrupting the Best Friends' hug spot was immense.

SCU would eventually find enough room to hit a powerbomb/low dropkick combination for an earned victory. They'll face the Dark Order in round two.
