14 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (16 Oct)

4. Hostilities Renewed

A previous episode of Dynamite saw the Lucha Brothers approach and attack SoCal Uncensored during a tag team tournament hype-up interview. It would have been easy for AEW to forget about this or write it off as a minor issue between the two units ahead of the tourney, but no. It came back into play with Pentagon and Fenix attacking SCU last night.

Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels were walking down the ramp to face the Best Friends. The Lucha Bros. jumped them from behind, unleashing a brutal assault on the veteran tandem, with Daniels eating a Fear Factor package piledriver on the ramp. His body was totally limp as Rey Fenix set Kazarian up for the same, though Scorpio Sky charged down for a crowd-popping save.

Referee Rick Knox insisted that Scorp couldn't wrestle, even as Daniels was being loaded onto a gurney. Scorp pled his case, though. Clad in street clothes he may have been, but Sky was eventually substituted into the bout.

What a great little way to switch this first-round clash up without messing anything up. They switched dynamics by swapping Daniels for Sky and made Kazarian work against injury, all out of a one-minute segment from two weeks ago.
