14 Ups & 2 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Rebellion 2021

4. A Roster Cut Eighteen Years Too Late

Your writer fully apologises for his harsh comments on IMPACT’s booking of Brian Myers when he first arrived in the company last year. It was a case of putting your trust in the process, as he’s now genuinely one of the highlights of the episode when he’s on top form.

‘The Most Professional Wrestler’s’ match vs. Matt Cardona was everything it needed to be. They fought, they didn’t wrestle. The bout was half in-ring, half around the ringside area, getting to the point that Cardona was being driven back and neck-first into the guardrail, and Myers was taking a Radio Silence on the ramp. “Is his bum broken?”, tweeted Chelsea Green – the question on everyone’s lips. Cardona also used Green’s Hot Mess finisher, which was cute.

A tweak of the previously-injured knee of Cardona’s saw Myers appear to help his former friend to his feet, instead laying him out with two Roster Cut Lariats to claim the victory. Brian Myers needed this win. He was lacking that big victory in IMPACT as, surprisingly, defeating Willie Mack won’t get you too far in IMPACT. Defeating Matt Cardona, however, will.

The knee injury appears to have been legit judging by Cardona’s Twitter, so the obvious questions must be asked about whether the match should have continued.
