The Ring Of Honor/New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Supercard was a success long before the first bell rang at last night's show.

A complete sellout within an hour of tickets going on sale in August 2018, it was an immediate triumph from a business standpoint. The sport's second-biggest promotion and their American partners had sold out 'The World's Most Famous Arena,' Madison Square Garden, bloodying WWE's nose in the process. Not only had they stepped into Vince McMahon's backyard and accomplished a feat the market leader hadn't done in years, but slow NXT TakeOver ticket sales forced WWE to switch from their traditional Saturday night to Friday. Talk about a home run.

This business success would've meant little had the show not delivered, however. We're pleased to report it did. Your writer was in the house for a special night at MSG, and while the ROH portion of the show couldn't match the stellar NJPW parts, the G1 Supercard was the smash hit it needed to be.

An earlier-than-advertised start meant we missed the opening STARDOM six-woman tag. Other than that, here's everything that went down inside that beautiful, beautiful venue on a historic night for NJPW and ROH...
