14 Ups & 3 Downs From NJPW/ROH G1 Supercard

NJPW/ROH

Bully Ray's New York City Street Fight was originally advertised as an open challenge. This changed when Juice Robinson, the affable IWGP United States Champion, answered the call prior to the event, but the former CJ Parker was ambushed backstage early in the night.

The challenge was reopened, and thus emerged the returning Flip Gordon to a big MSHG pop. He was swarmed by Silas Young and Shane Taylor within minutes of arriving, and out came Lifeblood's Mark Haskins and Robinson to even the odds, resulting in a wild, fun plunder brawl completely different to anything else on the show.

Though far from star ratings fodder, this wacky '90s WWE-style hardcore scrap served as a nice palette cleanser following the bullsh*t before it. We could have done without Taylor taking an unprotected chairshot straight to his big bald dome, though.
