14 Wrestlers Who Should Probably Regret Leaving WWE

1. Bret Hart

Bret "The Hitman" Hart had signed an unprecedented 20 year contract with WWE in 1996 that ensured he would spend the rest of his career as a WWE employee. Over the next year or so, Vince McMahon decided that he wanted out of that contract. A deal was brokered for Bret to head to WCW under a 3 year contract for an unbelievable amount of money. Unfortunately, "The Montreal Screwjob" took place at WWE Survivor Series 1997 & Bret's career went into a monumental downward spiral. To this day, Bret regrets having to leave WWE for WCW. Nearly a decade went by before Bret Hart was brought back to WWE for an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2006. One has to wonder how things would have ended up for both WWE and Bret had he stayed throughout The Attitude Era. Would the Mr. McMahon character have flourished as one of the greatest heels in pro wrestling history? Would Bret have suffered a career ending concussion? And to go even further: would Owen have been in the rafters of Kemper Arena at Over The Edge 1999? Hypothetical questions can be posed in almost every situation that I've written about so far. But none go deeper than the ripple effect that was caused when Bret left WWE for WCW.
