As mentioned, Steve Austin infamously walked out on WWE in 2002 when told to do a clean job for Brock Lesnar with minimal build on free television.

Austin has since expressed his belief that he was wrong, but was he?

His point - that it was senseless, fans would in fact remember it, and that a panicked Vince was far better off building the match towards pay-per-view instead of panicking at ratings that were in free-fall regardless - was salient. It was a stupid idea.

Vince, under the belief that he'd drawn what he could with everybody else, was adamant that Brock was the future - so much so that, on free television, he had Lesnar go over Hogan in August. With of all finishes a bear hug, Lesnar refused to let go of Hogan's blood-splattered body. It was definitive, but only because Hogan had grand plans to get his win back at Survivor Series. And, while the contents of Hogan's upcoming book/fairytale were a not inconsiderable factor in Hogan's November exit, the idea of doing a second job to Brock was the primary motivator behind what turned out to be a temporary hiatus.

Did the Big Show defeat Lesnar at said event out of spite?
