14 Wrestling Gimmicks Blatantly Stolen From Hollywood

4. Mankind - The Silence Of The Lambs

Mankind was shaped into a Hannibal Lecter-esque character by Mick Foley after he was originally supposed to be a much more generic leather-clad brawler.

The similarities between Anthony Hopkins' Lecter and Mankind are numerous: both are mentally ill, both enjoy classical music that clashes harshly with their violent outbursts, and both are seen wearing brown masks.

Reportedly Mankind originally had a mask even closer to Lecter's iconic one, complete with bars across the mouth, but this was ultimately scrapped.

Mick Foley is at least reasonable enough to admit the inspiration for the gimmick, and considering how many characters he's created over the years, it's hard to call him lazy for borrowing one of them from a hit movie.
