5. Giant Silva
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAl9dpJuPEs Giant Silva signed with the WWF in 1997, but they ended up using him as nothing more than a joke in The Oddities. He was mostly a cornerman for the faction, which is a bit of a shame really, as his 7 foot 2 size and 385 pounds could have made him a marketable giant. Presumably Vince never used him as the new Andre because the wrestling fundamentals weren't there. But this was a man who would end up competing in MMA after WWE, so he clearly did have some athletic potential. He even had a good look in some ways, with his crazy hair and long face. He was let go from the WWF in 1999, going on to become an MMA star on the Japanese circuit from 2003 until his retirement in 2006. They were freak show fights, including bouts against Akebono and Heath Herring. Did he seriously see himself reaching the pinnacle of MMA in the UFC? He did fight on seven PRIDE shows, including one in 2006, a year before UFC bought PRIDE in 2007. Unfortunately for Silva, UFC had stopped promoting freak show fights in the nineties. The modern day UFC is all about professional sport. If he had got into MMA sooner, they would've almost certainly booked him in some of those early UFC events.
