The Rock is regularly seen at UFC events. He loves the sport and is good friends with UFC President Dana White. He's good buddies with many of the fighters as well, often going to mingle backstage. One fighter he got to know well was Ronda Rousey, who ended up sharing the same agent with him. But what about The Rock stepping into the octagon and fighting for real? At UFC 119, MMA Fighting journalist Ariel Helwani asked Rock if he would have done UFC instead of the WWF in the mid 90's, if MMA had been as big as it is today. Rock replied, "There's no question about it, yeah, I love this sport. Competing in the octagon is something I would have loved to have done." As a former football player he would have had the physical capability, but obviously he would have had to learn several disciplines of MMA. Given how underdeveloped MMA was in the 90's, he might have had some success at a basic level. Nowadays, at age 43, the opportunity has well and truly passed.
