Triple H once went over five and a half years between WWE title reigns, losing the title in April 2002 and regaining it for one night in October 2007 from Randy Orton. But that’s not why he’s on this list.

No, the reason Triple H is on this list is for his nearly seven-year gap between reigns with that very same title. Helmsley lost the title to Orton in a six-man tag at April 2009’s Backlash pay-per-view and did not regain it until the Royal Rumble in January 2016, where 'The Game' won the Rumble match to unseat, appropriately enough, Reigns.

Triple H’s transition to the board room was responsible for his time away from the championship picture (and also for his subsequent return to the championship picture…).
