The Rock returned to WWE unexpectedly in the summer of 2002 to fill the void left by Stone Cold Steve Austin’s walk-out. Almost immediately, Rock, already a six-time WWE champion, won the then-Undisputed Title. He dropped the title the next month at SummerSlam to a hot young rookie named Brock Lesnar.

Rock went on to forge a... moderately successful career in Hollywood (probably due to his truly uncanny resemblance to mega-star Dwayne Johnson), returned to WWE on a part-time basis, and main-evented WrestleMania XXVIII before facing CM Punk at January 2013’s Royal Rumble. At that event, Rock won the WWE championship (though no longer “undisputed”) for the first time since August 2002.
