15 Amazing WWE WrestleMania Backstage Secrets (From Someone Who Was There!)

12. The Original SmackDown Women's Championship Match

Charlotte Flair's involvement in the WrestleMania main event was provocative by design.

Vince McMahon adding her as a way to get the match he wanted rather than the singles one fans campaigned for was perfectly in keeping with the company's shoddy storytelling, but adding the SmackDown Women's Championship to double-strap 'The Man' at least doubled down on the making of her as the company's top star.

The victims of that were Asuka, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville who lost out on their match and Rose specifically, who lost out on winning the title. All three didn't even make the card - the trio ended up in the pre-show Battle Royal.
