2. TLC III - May 24, 2001
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdtpvAH5RdE The Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match came about in late 2000, and has since gone on to inspire its own pay-per-view event. Despite being only the third edition of the match in history, this TLC match is often considered to be a lost or forgotten contest in the long lexicon of TLC. Furthermore, the match consisted of the original three TLC teams -- the Dudley Boyz, the Hardy Boyz, and Edge & Christian -- with the added bonus of the then-current World Tag Team Champions, Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit. Just like the two previous TLC encounters -- at SummerSlam 2000 and WrestleMania X-Seven -- this match was a thrilling, invigorating, and at times, frightening match. The addition of Jericho and Benoit to the fray definitely helped to liven things up. As astounding as it may seem, fans had become a bit desensitized to the entire TLC affair following the original two matches and the WrestleMania 2000 Triangle Ladder match -- the predecessor to the Tables, Ladders, and Chairs contests. Perhaps the most memorable and iconic moment from this match was Benoits attempt to deliver a diving headbutt from the top rope to the outside. With Matt Hardy prone on a table, Benoit climbed the turnbuckles before diving off with his signature headbutt. Unfortunately for the Rabid Wolverine, Hardy rolled out of the way, leaving Benoit to crash through the table. Medical personnel was forced to come out and remove Benoit from the match. A short time later, and after a great deal of further destruction, Chris Benoit returned to the match. Despite facing nearly insurmountable odds, the reigning tag champs were able to triumph. Furthermore, while this TLC encounter has been largely forgotten through the annals of time, it was one of the most thrilling matches of the time.
