1. Davey Boy Smith And Bret Hart In England (1992)
This is arguably the best match in SummerSlam match and it's arguably the most famous one too. That's because it took place at Wembley Stadium in London, England in front of 80,000 fans. Normally an Intercontinental Title match wouldn't main event a PPV, especially a major one, but there was a special circumstance in this case because Britain's own "British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith challenged his brother-in-law Bret Hart for the Intercontinental Title. With Smith's wife Diana (also Hart's sister) sitting at ringside, the crowd was going wild for all of it. Even though it was a face vs. face match the heat was extraordinary. As the match went on you could tell the fans realized they were witnessing one of the best matches ever. We could also tell that it wasn't going to be a dominant win for either guy. It had to be some kind of counter wrestling hold. There was such a roar from the crowd when Bulldog got to the ropes to get out of the Sharpshooter. Shortly after that, Hart went for a sunset flip, but Smith sat on top, hooked Bret's legs and that was enough for the win as well as the Intercontinental Title. It was the right match at the right moment with the right guys. After it was over, Hart hugged the victorious and Diana joined them in a family hug. That moment received just as big a reaction as when Bulldog won because the fans had so much respect for these guys. It was one of those special moments that made you feel good to be a wrestling fan.
