15 Best WWE SummerSlam Moments

2. Shawn Michaels Comes Back After Four Years To Beat Triple H (2002)

This is the match that a lot of fans say is their favorite of all time. At least if you're a fan of Shawn Michaels you might say. He was my favorite wrestler since he turned heel in the early 1990s. When he retired in 1998 most of thought he would never wrestle again. His back was badly injured. He had surgery. No way was he going to wrestle. We were wrong. The angle to bring back Michaels to the ring was brilliant too. Not only did his best friend Triple H turn his back on him with a Pedigree in the middle of the ring, but he also attacked him in the parking lot. Michaels didn't want to wrestle before that. However, once Hunter did that he had to do it. Watching that match was fun because HBK was back in the ring, but every time he took a back bump we worried that he might get hurt again. Who knew if he was selling or if he was actually hurt? He was so good at it that it was hard to tell. When Shawn won clean by countering the Pedigree it was one of those moments where everybody was giving high fives in the room because our favorite wrestler was back. Sure, he got attacked after the match, but so what. He won. At least in that moment, winning in wrestling mattered. At the time we figured that was his only match. We didn't know he had another eight years left him in.
