First things first, while I strongly believe that Paul Levesque married Stephanie McMahon (and vise versa) because he had truly fallen in love, the fact remains that marrying the boss's daughter had huge political ramifications.

Whether Levesque liked it or not (and given his current role within the company, I'd be willing to bet he liked it), dating and then marrying Stephanie McMahon carried huge risk for his WWE career.

Many people think that marrying Stephanie easily paved Hunter's way to WrestleMania main events and seats on executive committees, but the reality is it created a huge albatross for Triple H. From the moment his relationship with Stephanie became public, his career and integrity would be forever questioned. Instead of finding success through merit, many detractors looked to his personal relationship with the boss and boss' daughter as the reason for Triple H's success and longevity.

Fair or unfair, for love or for love of the game, Paul Levesque married Stephanie McMahon on 25 October, 2003 and his career was forever changed. While Levesque ultimately benefited politically from the move, that wasn't always guaranteed to be the outcome and perhaps to him, marrying the woman he loved was the top priority.
