When you have your very own "rule" in wrestling, you know you did something special. The famed "Freebird Rule" involves a Tag Team Title in a company that is held by a team which features more than two people, but can be defended by any combination of them. On one night, it might be Wrestler #1 and Wrestler #2, followed by Wrestler #1 and Wrestler #3 defending the titles the following week, only for Wrestler #2 and Wrestler #3 defending them the week after that. It doesn't happen frequently, but when it does, you automatically think of the Fabulous Freebirds. The original trio of Michael "P.S." Hayes, Buddy "Jack" Roberts and Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy reached the greatest heights, feuding with the Von Erich family in World Class Championship Wrestling. If you were in the Dallas territory and were feuding with the Von Erichs at the time, you were as big as heels could possibly get. The same could be said about the early days of the Road Warriors, who the Freebirds also had a lengthy feud with. They were heat-getters any and every place they went. The later version of the group featuring Hayes and Jimmy "Jam" Garvin were also successful, winning the WCW Tag Team Titles twice and the WCW United States Tag Team Titles twice, to go with one reign (with Badstreet) as the WCW Six-Man Tag Team Champions. An overall body of work that is nearly unmatched in tag wrestling, considering their main event work in Dallas and all of the money they made in doing it, means that the Freebirds are as deserving of a Hall Of Fame induction as anyone. It's just unfortunate that Gordy and Roberts have passed away, leaving it down to just Hayes and Garvin.
