With more than 100,000 more buys than our previous entry, WrestleMania 23 proved the power of the mainstream media in an event success. The reason so much media got behind the 2007 event was because of WWE's genius use of Donald Trump in the 'battle of the billionaires' which would see either Trump or Vince McMahon get their head shaved. This did big business for WWE because Trump's 'The Apprentice' show was still big at the time and of course his hair has always been iconically infamous. Wrestling fans and none-wrestling fans alike bought the show. The match for the hair was contested by Lashley and Umaga, another bizarre twist in PPV history, two men who had little lasting fame contested one of the biggest attractions of all time. The closing main event was a classic between defending champion John Cena and Shawn Michaels. Cena of course won. We also had Batista taking on the Undertaker in a great undercard match. Other than a 'money in the bank ladder match' that was all there was really to write home about - the key aspect of the show's success was undoubtedly McMahon vs Trump.
