15 Bizarre Wrestling Gimmicks You Won't Believe Happened More Than Once

9. Literal Astronaut

If you could travel the starways, how much of your time would you spend on Earth, getting dropped on your head with no health insurance? Well, for 1990's jobber Max Moon, 1960's footnote Spaceman Frank Hickey and current Lucha Underground sensation Aerostar, the answer is "as much as possible." Hickey was born in 1915, and spent the first half of his career as possibly the most generic wrestler that ever lived, until he started wearing a quilted Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon cape and claiming to hail from the stars. He stuck around for another three decades after that, last appearing in Memphis in the 1990's. By that time, WWE had given us Max Moon, most famous for losing to Shawn Michaels on the inaugural Monday Night Raw. Luckily, Aerostar has managed to buck the trend of all wrestlers from space being total doofuses, and he's currently one of the most exciting luchadors on the planet. Uh, planets.
