16 Classic WWE Finishers That Can't Win A Match In 2015

10. Sleeper

It dates back to the very dawn of professional wrestling, invented by Victorian grappler Evan "Strangler" Lewis. It was made more famous by ED "Strangler" Lewis, a different guy who wrestled a few decades later, but who also liked to end matches by choking fools out. It was also the signature maneuver of a number of golden age competitors, most notably Verne Gagne and Jay Strongbow. In the 80's, it was most visible as the means by which Brutus Beefcake would incapacitate his opponents prior to barbing them. The most recent mainstream wrestler to reliably end matches with a sleeper is Dolph Ziggler, who inexplicably chose to use it to end matches between 2010 and 2012, perhaps as part of a bid to find a finisher lamer than the Zig Zag.
