One of the few redeeming factors of Vince Russos WCW run is that he finally managed to run Hulk Hogan out of the company hed been running like a feudal estate for years. At Bash at the Beach 2000, Hogan legitimately refused to lose to WCW champ Jeff Jarrett, resulting in a worked shoot in which Jarrett laid down for Hogan, and Hogan cut a promo about Vince Russo ruining the company. Hogan then stormed out while Russo cut a promo about how Hulk Hogan was responsible for WCWs woes and would never, ever come back. Both men were correct, incidentally, but some fans believe that this awkward worked shoot stopped being a work, and Hogan was fired and/or quit midway through. The truth is predictably bizzarre: Hogan was indeed fired in kayfabe only, but Russos invective following the match was so hurtful that the Hulkster refused to come back to finish the angle. Hogan went as far as filing a defamation lawsuit against Russo, supposedly because the booker had drawn attention to Hogans baldness during his tirade. No one is certain if Hogan truly believed that nobody noticed his chrome dome before Russo pointed it out, but the damage was done.
