5. May 16, 2014: Vince McMahon Loses $350 Million In One Day
When the WWE Network launched in February 2014, Vince was adamant that everything would go smoothly; that WWE would get 1 million subscribers within 3 months time, and that he would once again become a billionaire. His confidence mustve been infectious, as WWEs stock increased dramatically. So when the initial announcements were made, Vinces predictions werent even close: the first subscription numbers were put in at a measly 667,000, 2/3 of what Vince had promised. Naturally, the stock took a massive tumble, as did Vinces own personal wealth; Vince McMahon went back from being a billionaire to a millionaire again, losing an unprecedented $US350 million in a single day. That must be a record of some kind. Vince mustve learned that day to never make grandiose promises and predictions for his product; it cost him dearly, and his ego mustve taken an especially rough beating. He had finally become a billionaire once again, only for that to be taken away from him within the span of only a few months. While Vince mightve made some of that money back recently, with the Network finally reaching 1 million subscribers, the thought of losing so much money in a single day mustve been heartbreaking. Its a miracle he didnt have a heart attack or anything like that.
